 Tumblr is probably dying in the near future, or, at least, not going to be as interesting as it once was, since female-presenting nipples and anything that isn't pure is allowed there anymore. So, now, I find myself here, trying to find a community and it sucks having to start over.

Anyways. Here's how you can find me:

So. Harry Flynn and Nathan Drake, y’know. I’ve had a lot of thoughts about them these past few days, especially as I wrap up my playthrough of Among Thieves. Both of them have been friends since forever. If we consider the comics, both of them have been friends for a long, long time. They were probably one of each other’s oldest friends, if not the oldest (no, Sam and Sully don’t count. They’re family.) They probably started out around the same time (as in: Nate started taking his own jobs, instead of relying on Sully 100% of the times.)

And then, then the heist happens, and after the heist, it’s the train, and then, it’s Shambhala, and honestly? I think Nate’d be as confused as he’d be angry. Was it him? Was it because of Chloe? Was it because of both of them? Was it something else completely? Was it because there always some sort of competition between the two of them?

 Alright, one of the many fic related things I've mentioned I'd like to do this year is rewrite my first fic, but... better. At the time, it was way too much for me, and I can finally recognize that, especially considering there was a lot of plot involved, even if it's "just" a missing scenes fic. After all, there's a lot untold here, since we only get to see things from Nate's point-of-view.

One of the things that changed is that there's no way Honor Among Thieves can be one single story, since although these stories are connected in a way, they don't belong together. They'd do better as standalone stories that are part of the same series (bless AO3 for the feature). It's also the first time I'm really trying to focus on a plot and writing something longer (because I have no problem writing short things and all my fics are on the short side, after all. If this is a challenge, then I want it to be a challenge, damn it). So far, one of the fics should be a multichapter, with around four chapters. Sounds good, right? I'll try to write the whole thing before publishing, but no pressure.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with this. There's something about writing for ourselves-- because little to no one will be interested in it, which is okay, really--that's so freeing I can't even describe it. It feels good to do this for me, to explore my views on canon. And, speaking of canon, it also made me think a lot about characters/things I don't usually think about, such as:

thoughts and prayers if you actually decide to read this )

Now, I'm not a canon purist by any means (or maybe I am, who knows) but this book is just so different from what Anne of Green Gables (plus other the books, of course) is supposed to be. Anne's this stubborn, hotheaded, charming, adventurous and charismatic person, but in this book, she's nothing but a shadow of herself. She's just this weird and precocious (?) child for some reason, and has no real personality of her own.

Seriously, is the authour seriously expecting me to believe Anne never once got into scrapes before Marilla? Or that she's this super smart and Different TM kid that walked and talked (without being motivated to do so, considering she was neglected, as Anne of Green Gables pointed it out) before all of Thomas' babies?

I also don't like the way Mr and Mrs Thomas and their family are written, but I still haven't managed to quite put finger in it. Maybe it's because it's different from what I imagined it'd be, maybe it's because it just doesn't make any sense in my mind. Maybe it's a bit of both, but I just really don't like it that, apparently, they have much older children than Anne and one of them basically raised her (?), I don't like the way Mr Thomas, a drunk, supposedly adored Anne more than some of his boys because she (a five-year-old kid that might as well be ten, by the way the writer describes her) has spirit and understands him, a drunk? Please.

I still haven't finished the book though, so maybe I'll change my mind as the plot moves forward, but as of right now, I just... really don't like Before Green Gables and can't believe these things are considered canon. But then again, fix-it fics are a thing, right?

I've also got my hands on Marilla of Green Gables and I'm not all that excited for it, either. By the looks of it, Marilla is anyone but Marilla. I can hardly see some of the things happening, but well, it's not like I can't give this book a chance. Plus, it might be useful for fic writing, so we'll see.

Or: by posting about it here, where everyone can see, I hope I can achieve at least some of these.

  • Write at least 20k words before my classes start again, around early February;
  • Post the first chapter of Bestest Detectives;
  • Pick up some of my older and almost finished works (Echoes for The Last of Us, or One Match (An Explosion) for Uncharted, for example) and publish at least two of them;
  • Write and publish plottier, longer fics;
  • Write and publish some of the shorter fics (under 1k words) I've been working on for a while;
  • Edit and publish some of my works for Banned Bingo Together. Hopefully I can get a bingo out of it!
Bonus:
  • Write at least one Christmas themed fic;
  • Close commissions and focus on myself and my works.

I know I still have one month and a half or so before this semester ends, but it's never too late to start thinking about it and planning.

Title: Sight for Sore Eyes
Rating: PG13
Words: ~ 485
Summary: As soon as his head hits the pillow and before sleep came to him, a plan forms itself in the back of Charlie’s mind - get a great night of sleep, the best one he’s had in a while, and call Nate first thing in the morning to inform him about Marlowe’s plans.
Notes: Written and posted on [profile] mricg and [profile] mricj . Takes place between Drake's Deception and Among Thieves, some time before the first chapter of UC3. Part of the Buried Treasure series.

 The first fic is still up, and it's... awful.

Uncharted was my first fandom, and I still hold it close to my heart, and, in a way or another, I'll always love these characters and this universe in a different way I love the other ones.

Back then, I wrote my first fic for it and it's not... good. At all. It sucks: OOC, awful grammar, no pacing whatsoever. It's just there, it's just a mess.

But as I grew and developed as a writer (and I want to thank every single one of the people that were there when I started out in fandom, since they were always patient and helped out a lot), my heart never truly left that fic, and to this day (although I've abandoned many, many projects), I want to revisit it, rewrite it and make it better.

Tonight, I started the outline, and I have the first chapter planned out already. I've set a new goal for myself:

- Work on commisions during the afternoon, as I watch my favorite telenovelas;
- Write, at least, 100 words a day for personal projects.

They might turn out awful, but it's always something I can go back to and edit it, and honestly? I'm excited for it.

In a few minutes, I'll start really working on Chapter 1. I even have a title already for this new-ish fic.

I don't even remember the last time I was so excited to write something. It feels like I'm coming home.

Title: A Hundred Miles Long
Rating: G
Words: ~ 1,410
Summary: She pretends that this isn’t, perhaps, the kindest he’s ever been to her.
Notes: Written for Day 2: Music/Singing of RosaWatts Week 2k18. Takes place between To the Moon and Finding Paradise.

Four hours and a half after Neil and Eva arrive to Catherine Brown’s house, she’s gone, and both of them start packing as soon as the commotion is over. They have seen it enough times in this line of work, and losing a loved one has never been easy on anyone, and it isn’t until then that it feels appropriate to do so, and, soon enough, both of them are done. Neil grabs the machine, and Eva tells them they’re sorry for their loss. The oldest of Catherine’s daughters has one of the saddest smiles on her face, and the tears don’t stop her from thanking them for their services.

 The first time I watched a Haven episode, it was 2011, and, throughout the years I ended up forgetting all about the show. Now, in the beginning of 2019 and in the middle of my summer break, I decided to rewatch it.

I find myself here, eight years later, and every time an episode ends, all I can think of is, "Wow, I love this stupid show."

It's been years, and I still haven't let go of it and at this point, I'm pretty sure I'll always love this show, this town, and, more importantly, these characters.

In hopes to get me to write more, I've decided to challenge myself: I'm starting this thing called Ficlet Fridays, and I think it's self-explanatory. Every Friday I take one random word or more, and I write a ficlet out of it. It doesn't need to be perfect, doesn't even need to be good, all I need is to write something.

Summer break has sort of started already, so this might be something good, something that'll keep me busy and, hey, who knows? I might end up with something much longer than I intended.

 While I worked on my Last of Us fic - yes, that one I've been sitting on since the Part II was first announced - I decided to go to my writing tag on Tumblr and boy did I find some good stuff:
  • A fic set after Among Thieve's ending. In this ficlet, Nate tries to cook Elena a nice dinner (it's her first day at work after the Shambhala Accident and all) and instead he burns down her whole fucking kitchen;
  • A fic set after Drake's Deception. In this, Nate steals Sully's wallet - he's showing off to Elena, even if Sully was the one who taught some of the tricks he goes for - and Sully does realize that but just goes, "Whatever I'm broke." Because we all know all treasure hunters are broke, especially these two;
  • Another fic set after Drake's Deception, where Charlie/Chloe is the main pairing - this was pre-Lost Legacy and I still have conflicted feelings about these because I love both these pairings - where Chloe wants to get her ears pierced and Charlie goes with her;
  • Now, now, now, imagine: Baby!Chloe and Baby!Nate, both of them are young and stupid and think they're Totally In Love With Each Other (which might be true from Chloe's part?) Nate finds her passport and her middle name is something Super Classic and Girly (is that the right word) and he starts making fun of her for it. IMAGINE THE CUTENESS!!!
  • Yes I ship the hell out of Baby!Nate and Baby!Chloe, both of them in their early twenties and loving each other
And now I'm suffering because I need to write this long ass Last of Us fic and I can't stop thinking about writing for Uncharted...
